A General Contracting and Construction Management firm. Our main office is located in Watertown, NY. We build a broad range of projects to include public and private projects in housing, higher education, healthcare, and historical renovations.

Seeking a highly motivated Safety Director to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing and fostering a leading safety culture across our New York operations. The Safety Director will provide strategic vision, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, reduce risks, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety and employee well-being.

Key Responsibilities

· Act as the primary contact regarding all safety and compliance related areas.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other local/state governmental and regulatory compliance issues for safety and personnel.

· Foster a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization. Build relationships across all team members and drive continuous improvement.

· Provide leadership and mentor staff on all safety related requirements.

· Create, implement, and maintain the company’s overall health and safety programs, policies and procedures.

· Conduct site inspections, employee trainings and perform hazard analysis.

· Lead accident and near-miss investigations to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.

· Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees and management.

· Maintain all required safety logs and files, OSHA 300 log, and prepare reports for management on safety performance and trends.

· Develop and monitor the company’s risk management policies and procedures.

· Serve as the point of contact for safety concerns and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote a culture of safety.

· Serve as primary liaison with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

· Attend the pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings, preparatory inspection meetings and periodic in-progress meetings.

· Procure, organize, maintain and distribute safety related equipment to employees and project sites.

· Conduct onsite safety orientations for all employees on project sites.

Requirements

· Associates degree or bachelor’s degree preferred in Health and Safety or 3-5+ years construction safety related field experience.

· In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety laws.

· OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500 certification preferred.

· First Aid/CPR instructor certification preferred.

· Must be able to communicate construction safety enforcement on an individual basis, perform training in group setting and participate in job site safety meetings.

· Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, problem-solving and organizational skills are crucial.

· Ability to approach people in corrective action situations is required.

· Must be comfortable working in both an office and job site environment.

· Required to travel to various project site locations throughout NY on a weekly basis.
